hello there, friend,

i grew up in a very small western pennsylvania town and attended a very small private high school. when i made the decision to move away for college, it was with the intent of saying goodbye to where i had grown up, and in some ways, good riddance. i was beyond excited to begin college.

what i remember most about my freshman year was the wonder of it all, from the freedom of doing what i wanted when i wanted to, to the friendships i made, the classes i took, the hard work i was engaged in, and the way the world completely opened up to me. i couldn't get enough of it.

i don't remember being bored. i know that if i was, i walked down the hallway and found someone to talk to, i went for a long walk, i lingered in the cafeteria engaged in conversation, found myself reading more than ever, and was interested in almost every single thing i heard or read. many of the relationships and experiences i had in college shaped who i am today, but i think one of the most important was this idea of learning as life-long, as you say. that the world is full of fascinating stories and people.

xo,
b
