Hello there, friend,
Despite the fact that it isn't really spring here yet, save a few daffodils that unluckily popped up and were stifled by last week's snow, I've been itchy to start working on the house. I feel this way every April. It's time to throw open the windows, clean out the junk, and press reset on the decor. And, most importantly, it's time to paint.
When I was a child, I remember my father speaking unkindly about people who are constantly fixing up and changing their houses. He attributed it to inner dissatisfaction and I, not knowing what to say, agreed. Now that I'm an adult with my own home, I wholly disagree. This is my home! This is where I rest and relax, where I work and play. This is where I invite in friends and neighbors. Though having the cutest house on the block isn't my goal, having a comfortable, visually pleasing home is. It's not an effort to avoid my inner life; it's an extension of it.
xo,
L
