Hello there, friend,
Many years ago, before I had a smartphone, I was doing this exact thing: taking a technology Sabbath each Sunday. I didn't open the computer, didn't do any work, and let my brain rest. It was good, even back then. But the idea of this is a little more tricky now that we have these devices in our pockets. And all the more necessary, I think.
Only what matters still continues to shape my life this year. It has given me permission to turn away from distraction and toward things that bring me life. But it's a not a perfect process. More than once in the last few months I've had to work to get myself back on track. Any time we make these declarations in our lives to live with intention, there's always struggle and sacrifice. My only hope is that the good outweighs the bad, that hope will triumph over fear.
What I also want to say is that I love wrestling with this and talking with you about what a good balance in life truly looks like. I'm grateful for our friendship and that we can work this out together.
xo,
L
