hello there, friend,
i have long gravitated toward spontaneity... i think it's part of my personality and part of my husband's too. i don't like to plan too far ahead, whether it's a vacation or meal planning, because what if i change my mind??? since having children, i know i'm far more predictable, but i still long for the spontaneous.
my husband's parents are a clear example of spontaneity and it's opposite! my father-in-law is always ready to go anywhere at almost any time, to take advantage of good weather, or chances that might not come around again easily, and my mother-in-law is very practical, very focused on tasks and crossing them off, providing for and planning meals... it's fascinating to me that their marriage consists of these opposites.
as i prepare the guest room for their arrival this weekend, i have been thinking about how different they are from each other, how their children are a mixture of them both, but how they lean heavily toward the spontaneous, and how my own children are now a mixture of us... i hope spontaneity will be a heavy influence on them, too, because i know it means they will get out and enjoy life.
xo,
b
