hello there, friend,
i woke up after sleeping for almost eleven hours… to
birdsong all around me, wrens, cardinals, and various warblers, sunlight
streaming into the tent and campsite through live oaks and palmettos. my oldest poured me a cup of coffee made on
the campstove and we pulled our camp chairs into a patch of sunlight and opened
our books…
getting lost in a book is one of my favorite things to do on
vacation. i often start thinking long
before a trip about what i will read, stacking books up near my suitcase,
knowing i can’t possibly read everything i bring, but wanting to make sure i
don’t run out.
i always bring both fiction and nonfiction and have
grandiose ideas about how much i’ll learn and how much i’ll read for
pleasure. not surprisingly, i read the
fiction like a madwoman and read just enough of the nonfiction so that i don’t
feel guilty about bringing it.
xo,
b
