hello there, friend,
school was cancelled and i have a feeling it will be for the remainder of the week. the day dawned bright and clear and by mid-morning many of our streets were on their way to being clear. for the first time in a while, i was able to convince my oldest daughter to walk with me. we walked through town and campus, hardly seeing anyone, but enjoying the sunshine and the brisk air and time together.
for a few days now, we've tossed around ideas for what we might either take on or remove from our daily lives as we contemplate the season of lent. i never did this growing up, or until the past few years, but it's been a good practice for me. i've given up things (blog reading, instagram, alcohol) and tried to take on a more mindful approach to reading scripture, meditation, and prayer. each year, i find myself renewed and more connected to my faith.
each of my kids and even husband have decided to do something on their own - each giving something up that allows for more space to take something on. i love that this season allows for a pause, to rethink how we spend our time, to remind ourselves what we value. and as we look forward to changing seasons, the gift of newness that comes with spring.
xo,
b
